Executive Director
Founder/CEO
It is my joy and my honor to be the founder and executive director of Peas in a Pod Learning Center of College Station! Founding and growing Peas in a Pod Learning Center has been a wonderful journey that began 22 years ago when I began my first job as a certified teacher. To prepare for this journey, I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Studies & Psychology (Counseling), and a second Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I am a certified Master Reading Teacher EC-12, and have enjoyed a wonderful career in educating young children since 2000!
After teaching 1st grade and Kindergarten for 8.5 years as a certified teacher in 4 major public school districts in Texas, I completed 5 wonderful years of service in College Station I.S.D. With the help of my husband, I was able to resign from teaching public school to stay at home with our son and twin daughters and begin operating a registered childcare business in our home for 2 years. It was an amazing journey that led us to the opening of the licensed childcare facility here in our hometown 12 years ago called Peas in a Pod Learning Center of College Station.
When we opened the doors of Peas in a Pod Learning Center in 2010, our oldest son was only 3 and our twins were 1 year old. 5 years later we welcomed our youngest son into our family. They all 4 benefited from our dual language (English & Spanish) Kinder Ready Program and were fully prepared entering College Station Schools. Our kids are now beginning their 5th year, at the International Leadership of Texas, thriving in a trilingual (English, Spanish, Chinese) educational environment. Our Collaborations
Peas in a Pod Learning Center partners with Accell of College Station. We invite residents to read to our kids, enjoying a multigenerational approach to teaching our children a love for reading.
We also invite in students from TAMU and Blinn to collaborate with our teachers and join us in loving and caring for our students. We desire to immerse student teachers into high quality educational school environments.
Through our collaborations with colleges within the Texas A&M Univesrity System and other local agencies, Peas in a Pod desires to provide learning experiences and opportunities for children and families, TAMU/Blinn faculty and students, and senior citizens to build social-emotional relationships, encourage dual-language development, and provide mentoring opportunities.
Our Unique Experience
Peas in a Pod Learning Center provides a unique outdoor learning experience for children. This outdoor learning experience is destined to become a best practice for teaching young children in our community. We are so excited to be offering this special opportunity! Outdoor learning combines problem-solving, flexible thinking, strategizing, and creativity to provide a high-quality teaching and learning experience.
